At the outset of the American Civil War, a teenager from New Orleans paid a tailor to make a soldier’s uniform. Serving under an alias, Lieutenant Harry Buford was an officer in the battle of First Bull Run, was wounded at Shiloh, and served as a secret agent for the Confederacy during the American Civil War. Buford’s real name was Loreta Janeta Velazquez. Born in Cuba and raised in New Orleans, Loreta was brash, quick-witted, and unconventional. Her memoir, published after the war, caused a sensation. She was publicly attacked and discredited by a prominent Southern General, and for over a century, critics have dismissed her as a hoax. „Death´s Eleven“ is the story of a special football match: the one between the bakers of the „III bakery unit“ gathered in the team „FC Start“ and the team of the German Luftwaffe “Adler“ on the 9th of August 1942 in occupied Kiev.
Yet the bakers are also the best football players of Dynamo Kiev, the leading Soviet football club, and of the local rival club Lokomotive. Both clubs are officially banned from the football league in the occupied territories occupied by the Nazis. The football match is intended to give a touch of normality and „humanity „ to brutal condition of life in the occupied Kiev.
The „Start“ club with their Dynamo Kiev champions is determined to play to win: no matter what this will lead to.
The film include interviews with witnesses, sport historians, archive pictures and footage of the epic Soviet fiction film „The Third Period“ of 1962 on the match.

But deep in the archives of the KGB lies the fascinating story of Russicum college, a school created in Rome in 1929 for the task of preparing Catholic priests following the Eastern Orthodox traditions to be sent to the Soviet Union - even undercover - in order to reconstitute the ecclesiastic hierarchy destroyed by years of religious persecutions. This film pieces together the incredible odyssey of a group of priests who arrived in the Soviet Union during WWII. The priests were eventually arrested, and some were summarily executed, while others were deported to Gulags. His mother too, Ida Dalser, dies soon after in a lunatic asylum after eleven years of confinement closely monitored by the fascist regime. Why were Ida and her son locked in mental hospitals? Were they truly insane, or were there more sinister motives at play? This is the beginning of the dramatic and until-now unknown story of Benito Albino, son of Benito Mussolini and Ida Dalser, born in November 1915. Four generations lived in this house classified as a “monument to the Czech communist movement” at the height of the socialist era. Situated in the popular neighbourhood of Zizkov in Prague, it was bought in 1895 by the director’s great grandfather, considered one of the nation’s founding fathers and was also inhabited by Stan’s grandfather, an active member of the CP and by his father, writer and leader of the CP. Today the house is occupied by his cousin and her son, the last penniless inhabitants of an edifice whose walls are crumbling.
