Opening Ceremonies & Keynote Address Plenary Salon Dei Cavalieri, Section 1
The 2005 World Congress of History Producers welcomes delegates.
Piero Angela is a prestigious Italian journalist and writer who has been producing and hosting Science and Nature programs for more than 25 years, including hundreds of hours of prime-time programs for the public broadcasting channels of RAI.
Angela is the author of several books on Popular Science, such as "The Mysteries of Sleep", "The Extraordinary History of Man" and “The Extraordinary History of Life on Earth".
In this timely and provocative keynote speech, Piero Angela looks at the complex links between History and Science. Angela strongly believes that historical events should be analyzed in technological and scientific context, as technology has always influenced the history of people, nations and conflicts. He will address important issues such as the link between communication and past empires' administration, connections between past societies, technology, education levels, illiteracy, hierarchies, and the condition of women. He will ask the question: How does Science help us to understand and piece together historical events?
