The death of Pope John Paul II redefined the relationship between the Catholic Church and the media. As one of the most historically significant events of 2005, the media coverage of his slow demise lasted more than three weeks and turned his passing into an international television event. Stefano Rizzelli, Producer of La Storia Siamo Noi on RAI Educational will discuss his landmark project “The Last Days of the Pope”, shedding some insight into the impact of the Pope’s death and how it has influenced our responsibilities as producers of historical programming.
