Ettore Bernabei is a leading scholar, journalist, and internationally recognized television executive. Throughout his remarkable career Bernabei has established himself as a highly successful and internationally recognized independent producer of historical fiction as well as an influential leader in public broadcasting.
From 1960 to 1974 Bernabei was Director-General of RAI. During his tenure, Bernabei defined the mission of RAI and successfully shaped the network into Italy’s public service provider.
For the past fourteen years, Bernabei has been chairman for Lux Vide, one of Italy’s most successful production companies. One of the company’s most ambitious projects was a 21-episode series based on the Old and the New Testaments. This series was successfully broadcast throughout Italy and in 143 countries around the world. Under Bernabei’s leadership, Lux Vide is currently producing a series of 24 episodes on some of the most important figures of the 20th century including Pope John which on record audience ratings and firmly established this series as one of Europe’s most popular on television.
