Closing Lunch & Keynote Address - "A Short History of Progress"
Sala Belle Arti

Sponsored By:
National Film Board of Canada / Office national du film du Canada

Ronald Wright describes his latest work as a brief history of the world since Neanderthal times and "a police profile of a repeat offender named Homo sapiens." He will discuss the human tendency to saunter into "progress traps" --advances that bring short-term benefits but in the long run prove to be disastrous. As the saying goes: each time history repeats itself, the price goes up. By understanding the patterns of the past, writers, artists, and filmmakers can focus on the shape of things to come.
Directly following his closing keynote presentation, Ronald Wright will be available to sign copies of his award-winng bestseller "A Short History of Progress".
