CHAIRMAN OF LUX VIDE TO PRESENT LUNCHEON KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT 2005 WORLD CONGRESS OF HISTORY PRODUCERS |

Ettore Bernabei, chairman of one of Italy’s most celebrated production houses, LUX VIDE, will present a special luncheon address to delegates of the 2005 World Congress of History Producers on Saturday, December 3, 2005 in Rome.
“A man of vision, courage and principles, Ettore Bernabei is one of the most respected and leading figures in the Italian television industry,” said Craig Thompson Executive Producer of the event. “We are delighted to have such a distinguished and influential member of our industry share his remarkable insight with our delegates.”
Ettore Bernabei is a leading scholar, journalist, and internationally recognized television executive. Throughout his remarkable career Bernabei has established himself as a highly successful and internationally recognized independent producer of historical fiction as well as an influential leader in public broadcasting.
From 1960 to 1974 Bernabei was Director-General of RAI. During his tenure, Bernabei defined the mission of RAI and successfully shaped the network into Italy’s public service provider.
For the past fourteen years, Bernabei has been chairman for Lux Vide, one of Italy’s most successful production companies. One of the company’s most ambitious projects was a 21-episode series based on the Old and the New Testaments. This series was successfully broadcast throughout Italy and in 143 countries around the world. Under Bernabei’s leadership, Lux Vide is currently producing a series of 24 episodes on some of the most important figures of the 20th century. The first episode entitled Pope John earned record audience ratings and firmly established this series as one of Europe’s most popular on television. Lux Vide is currently wrapping up production of their latest installment in this series entitled John Paul II.
The World Congress of History Producers is a gathering for the most talented and creative producers and broadcasters from around the world whose business and passion is telling the stories of history. International programming commissioners will be on hand to network and develop business opportunities with independent producers.
Additional highlights of this year's History Congress include: Genre Confusion; The Blurring Boundaries of History Programming where panellists will debate and discuss the blending of documentary genres including science, history, current affairs and drama; Face-to-Face, a seven minute pitch with a commissioning editor; Around the World in 80 Minutes, a showcase of the best history programs from around the world; and Who Owns History?, where a panel of experts will provide strategies for navigating the minefield of accessing and clearing historical footage.
